2010
SYBARITE, Sauvignon Blanc, Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara (3,416
cases produced)
It
was a great harvest with lots of fruit and exceptional quality that
ripened all at once. The wine is a blend of 48% Grassini
Vineyard, 28% McGinley Vineyards (AKA Westerly Vineyard), 15% Star
Lane Vineyard, and 9% Curtis Vineyard fruit. We have variable
skin contact times – depending on the grape, we battonage lees
frequently, and there is a small portion that is barrel aged – some
in new wood. The 2011 is a very full bodied wine, with bright
flavors, some mineral, tinge of grapefruit, passion fruit, and a
lengthy finish. SYBARITE complements my triumvirate of
assemblages: SYBARITE, M5, and ÜBER. Just like Disney’s
Mouseketeers’ we have a little chant: S Y – ? Santa Ynez
Valley, B A R – ?Santa Barbara, R I T E – ?so right,
sybarite, it is good ? for you and me!
